An Intimate Spring Wedding at Christianson’s Nursery in Mount Vernon, WA

A beautiful collaboration between local vendors

Last spring, we had the pleasure of bringing together an incredible group of talented vendors to showcase the very best of spring and our love for locally grown, seasonal flowers, and to show couples what their wedding could look like at Christianson’s Nursery in Mount Vernon, WA. We are thrilled to share with you the results of this magical day, and hope you enjoy these beautiful images of modern & elegant wedding floral inspiration.

Showcasing Seasonality with Elegant Spring Florals

We wanted to really highlight & celebrate the ethereal abundance & fleeting beauty of the Spring season, bringing this together through unique elements including but also beyond the florals- an incredible venue with an array of interesting & textural landscape, delicate couture gowns, the intricate details of the cake…. Gentle inviting the viewer to softly deepen into the present moment of the everchanging seasons.

Working with seasonality in florals

Working with seasonality is one of the most significant aspects of our work here at the Noctua Florals Design Studio in Bellingham, WA. The sustainability piece of using what is in season is certainly an important part of why we choose to work almost exclusively with local, in-season flowers.

But designing with these unique and stunning floral elements offer something even more special to the couple we are designing for: they speak deeply both to the place and time of year of your unique event. We’re passionate about creating beautiful and one-of-a-kind results that support, hold and celebrate your love through flowers completely beyond what you may find in your everyday grocery store.

The magic of flowering spring bulbs

This intimate celebration was first envisioned from my love affair with fritillaria and all things flowering spring bulbs.

Fritillaria are a family of spring flowering bulbs that range from the delicate and graceful meleagris, movement-rich uva-vulpis, to the dramatic and bold persica varieties. Each has its own unique personality, shape and rich colors.

The softness of spring is highlighted through the gentle pastels of the specialty daffodils & heirloom roses, contrasted by the rich burgundies and purples of ranunculus, fritillaria, & hellebore.

A simple wedding cake with floral accents

Antler Baking Co. captured the incredible shapes of the bulbs perfectly with the uva-vulpis fritillaria artfully arranged onto her delicious creation, and the magical colors paired flawlessly with her cake design.

Elegant florals + a minimalist bridal look: the perfect pairing

The simple, clean lines of the stunning gowns from The Dress Theory by Alexandra Grecco & Sarah Seven provided the perfect medium for Michelle Wight HMUA to adorn the models with natural looking, illuminating hair and makeup. This allowed space to be held for the elegant lines of gesture offered by the fritillaria and supporting florals of narcissus, tulips, lilac, hellebore & more.

We will never forget this absolutely stunning veil, designed by Heidi Hull Designs, which added an element of ethereal abundance that made everything feel all that more magical.

About Christianson’s Nursery Weddings

Christianson’s Nursery in the Skagit Valley and their established + curated garden, greenhouses & outbuildings offer an incredible array of places to seek out natural light and beauty. Our photographer for this shoot, Anna Peters, captured it even better than I could have ever imagined.

If you’re considering having your wedding at Christianson’s Nursery, you’ll have a variety of site choices, including the fully restored Meadow Schoolhouse, which offers a charming space with room for up to 50 guests, and the English Rose Garden, which can accommodate up to 120 guests.

The Vinery at Christianson’s Nursery

Christianson’s Nursery has a new wedding venue called The Vinery, which is what particularly drew me to this nursery as a wedding venue. They used reclaimed wood throughout the process of restoring the space, and now it is full of lovely textures and light.

The Vinery at Christianson’s Nursery can accommodate up to 150 people seated, with additional viewing space in both balconies on the large ground floor. You’ll have access to multiple spaces including the west loft, the east loft & bar, the bride & groom dressing areas, the covered outdoor space, and an outdoor patio with string lights. With plenty of lighting & sound equipment, ample parking space, and access to the Nursery’s hand-restored glass greenhouses, you’ll have everything you could ever need for your wedding at The Vinery at Christianson’s Nursery!

For our shoot, the chairs from Wander Event Rentals complimented the wood and metal elements of the space beautifully, and our stationary designer, Krisanna Elizabeth, brought the tablescape together with her minimal yet elegant designs.
