Joyful & Vibrant Whidbey Island Wedding at Fireseed Catering

October 21, 2022

What a joyful, vibrant late summer wedding at the most stunning Whidbey Island wedding venue – Fireseed Catering! Wrapping up our summer season last year, this wedding took place at one of the most incredible venues I’ve ever worked at, with the sweetest couple, Teresa & Nick. It was a day filled with dazzling bursts of color, and was a wonderful final celebration of the bounty of summer.

Thank you to Stefan and Audrey for the stunning photos that captured the essence of this wedding so beautifully!

A lively color palette bursting with joy, vibrancy, & summer sunshine

Here at Noctua Florals, WE LOVE COLOR! Teresa and Nick’s wedding was bursting with a vibrant, joyful color palette of peach, coral, salmon rose, rust orange, burgundy, sunshine yellow and pops of sky blue, with all of our favorite summer blooms. Teresa’s bridesmaids wore a stunning array of jewel tones that paired beautifully with the vibrant & joyful floral bouquets – showcasing a perfect example of how you can organically blend the colorful summer season with the deep, rich colors of fall! Add in a charming island wedding venue like this one, with incredible lush, green gardens and spectacular views… you have some pretty magical results!

A true celebration of the bounty of the season

The flowers were a true celebration of the bounty of the season, featuring dahlias, zinnias, garden roses, sunflowers, delphinium, cosmos & more completely from our very own organic cutting garden, along with from some of our favorite local farms. Sometimes sunflowers can be a little tricky to use in a bridal bouquet – the large, thick stems and a typically extra large bloom can be challenging to work into such an intricate piece! In the end, it worked out beautifully, as we were able to seamlessly blend the thick stems of the sunflowers into the depths of the surrounding blooms & the muted green eucalyptus.

The beauty is in the details

For Teresa & Nick’s ceremony, we wanted to create an installation that allowed the picturesque island-view backdrop to shine, but one that would also add to the scene with some bold pops of color. We ended up designing a broken, freestanding arch that would frame Teresa & Nick perfectly with the water, trees, and natural greenery behind them, and we could not be more thrilled with how it turned out! Broken arches are such a fun, unique option for your ceremony installation, as they help to anchor your aisle, frame you perfectly against the backdrop, and serve as a natural altar to say your vows in front of. We loved the way this freestanding arch served up so much summer beauty on its own, without an arbor or any additional pieces to distract – the large, bold sunflowers nearly stole the show!

We could not be more thrilled with how not only the ceremony turned out, but also with how the indoor reception came to life. To add an organic touch that really brought the outside indoors, we added minimalistic, yet eye-catching greenery to the rafters in the form of smilax vines. This simple touch really aided in giving the inside of the barn an organic feel, creating an utterly whimsical atmosphere for the couple & the guests alike to enjoy!
