09 Nov Modern, Textural & Organic Urban Seattle Wedding at the Metropolist
We always seek to design in a way that mirrors the time and place of the wedding we are designing for. The Metropolist is an absolutely stunning Seattle wedding venue, a modern and classic industrial feel with no shortage of incredible lighting and unique, interesting backgrounds. Meanwhile, the cutting garden was absolutely bursting with some of our most whimsical, highly textural botanical ingredients, and gorgeous branching foliages. The result? Wedding flowers that complimented the space perfectly and took your breath away.
We wove some of our favorite + unexpected floral ingredients throughout the Metropolis venue, including phlox, sanguisorba (greater burnet), nicotiana, flowering oregano, smokebush, nine bark pods, cress; along with some of the classic garden beauties like sweet peas, garden roses, foxglove, cosmos…. along with a few very special + wild weeds grown by our friends at Free Ranges Flowers.
dramatic texture + seasonal floral ingredients for this urban treasure
Whatever season you choose for you wedding, there will always be stunning and unique floral ingredients that grow at the time and place of your celebration. This allows us as floral designers to create floral arrangements that help to locate the most well suited flowers for you in a particular moment in time\season that truly speak to YOU too! For this modern, organic wedding we leaned heavily into the highly textural elements the garden was offering and the bride was hoping for- it is funny how it always lines up so perfectly with trust and embracing seasonality of flowers.
Texture can be many things depending on the seasons- in the spring lots of flowering branches, fall seedpods and grasses…. these are just a couple examples of how nature invites in something different + unique with the constant shifting of one moment into the next through the seasons. All of the flowers used for the Seattle wedding will only all bloom at this exact time in this exact way only once!
Working with locally-grown, seasonally-available not only provide a truly unique and thoughtful concept created to support + hold you through flowers for your wedding day, but also supports local agricultural, small business, provides habitat for local wildlife + pollinators, protects our waterways, and keeps our soils health. When we chose this path, this is where the magic happens and all parts of the ecosystem (including us!) are benefitted and allowed to thrive.
The reception tables were really the start of the show. Raw silk linens, elegant + final glassware, classic stoneware plates, dozens of glowing candles… It was a minimal yet highly impactful design that really allowed the flowers to shine and the space to fully appreciate this urban Seattle wedding venue. We designed the bud vases to feel whimsical, textural and a little wild to create maximum impact and draw the eye. We always choose to work with a variety of glass bud vases in different shapes and sizes to allow a more organic, natural feel.
Our cutting garden allows us to provide our clients with flowers that not only celebrate and embrace the beauty of each season, but also the opportunity to have floral designs featuring unusual and specialty flower varieties that at often available elsewhere. These botanical treasure were on full display for throughout stunning table designs for this beautiful Seattle wedding.
